The Newsletter of the Callanish School of Celtic Arts

Dear Students and Parents,

A big welcome to all the new students joining us for the summer session! I hope that you will all have fun over the next few months and fall in love with Scottish dancing. We have lots of events planned for the summer including marching in the Hyannis 4th of July Parade and our annual car wash! Please make sure to bring lots of water with you to class since it is very important to keep hydrated in the heat. Happy dancing!

Mòran Taing,

Maggie Carchrie

Barnstable County Fair

We will be performing once again at the Barnstable County Fair on Sunday, July 21st. Please meet at the main gates at 11:45. Once we have all assembled, we will be admitted onto the grounds. Dancers will enter for free and one parent per child may also attend for free. Please show up in your national outfit if you dance the Lilt etc. Everyone else should come dressed in their kilt.

Fundraising Incentive

A year ago, we invested almost $2,000 in producing Scottish Dance Bags to sell as a fundraiser. Sales have dried up, so we have lowered the price from $15 to $10 per bag. As an incentive, dancers are encouraged to sell the bags to their friends at competitions. All sales will go directly to your child’s Scotland 2004 account. The more bags you sell, the more you will earn towards our trip! New students may also purchase bags. See Maggie if interested.

Spring Fundraising Report

During the spring, we were able to raise $333.36 at the yard sale (after expenses) and $192.00 through the Tupperware sale. The yard sale profit went to pay for the new vests and the Tupperware money was set aside for Scotland 2004. Maggie will be handing out an itemized list of what your child has earned so far for the trip.
