The Newsletter of the Callanish School of Celtic Arts
Dear Students and Parents,
As most of you know, I will be attending the first annual BATD Highland Weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada from October 3-12. While away, Colleen Anderson will be teaching the Highland Dance Classes in West Barnstable and Yarmouthport. In case of absences, please call Colleen directly at: (508) 385-8572. Gaelic language and Highland dance in Falmouth will not be held during this time. Fiddle lessons will still take place on Tuesday, October 8th at my house.
Mòran Taing,
Maggie Carchrie
Fall Fundraiser
It is time for our annual fall fundraiser! Each year, Callanish Students are asked to sell items in a Holiday catalog. Jill Savage will be dispersing the packets during the week of October 7th and you will have until November 7th to return your packet to Maggie. This is an excellent fundraiser for the school; if we sell $2,000 worth of merchandise we will be able to keep a 50% profit and not be charged shipping. This fundraiser benefits students directly because you will be able to keep the profit you make towards our trip to Scotland in 2004 OR towards costumes. Please do your best to participate!
Change in Fiddle Schedule
There is a slight change to the fall fiddle schedule. During the month of November, fiddle lessons will be held on November 5th and 12th NOT November 5th and 19th.
School Trip
On Saturday, November 9th we will be taking a fall trip to the RSCDS Concert featuring World Champion Highland Dancer Colleen Rintamaki and the Celtic music group, Scantily Plaid. The concert begins at 3 PM in Lexington at the Museum of Our National Heritage. Tickets are $15 kids/$22 adults and must be ordered in advance. Please make a check payable to RSCDS-Boston and give it to Maggie ASAP if interested. If anyone is interested in carpooling, please check with Maggie. We will all be going out to dinner afterwards before heading home.
