The Newsletter of the Callanish School of Celtic Arts
Dear Students and Parents,
The summer is upon us and now is the most important time to be practicing those dance steps! The summer and fall are full of Highland Games, and that means competitions! Even though it is hot, practice is important! Make sure to drink plenty of water before, during and after your practices. Heat exhaustion is something I don’t wish on anyone! The next show won’t be scheduled until October, so now is the time to concentrate on details and making your dances look sharp!
Mòran Taing,
Maggie Carchrie
4th of July Events
The Callanish School will be marching in the Hyannis 4th of July Parade on Friday, July 4th. The logistics are the same as in past years: meet at 3 PM on the corner of Ocean Street and Main Street, Hyannis. The parade will begin at 4 PM, proceeding down Main Street, left onto Sea Street, and then back up South Street. The parade should be over by 5:30 PM and Maggie will bring children back to meet their parents in front of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream. All dance parents should have been given a red sheet outlining what children are to wear. If children aren’t dressed correctly, they will become spectators! All parents who march MUST be wearing a pastel Callanish T-Shirt (not one of the old purple ones). If you need to borrow one, please let Maggie know.
Schedule of Fees

Trip Reminder
If you are interested in attending our trip to Nova Scotia in August 2004, please make sure that Maggie has a $100 refundable deposit from each interested person NOW! Reservations cannot be made if the number of attendees is not known. Maggie will be making the cabin reservations this month. Please let her know if you have any roommate preferences.
Benefit Concert Postponed
Due to several conflicts with dancers and music performers, the Callanish Benefit concert has been postponed. Unfortunately, we were not able to secure another date at Cape Cod Community College during a prime weekend time for the entire 2003-2004 academic year. If you have any ideas on an alternative location, please let Maggie know. She was hoping to put on the concert during the first or second Saturday of November.
Please Note:
The Callanish School now has its own direct phone number. You can now call Maggie and the school at: (508) 833-4828.
